Steve Hofmeyr, Songs of Neil Diamond
“Neil Diamond has had the biggest influence on me as a musician,” Hofmeyr says of his decision to do the Neil Diamond tribute show. “I am not the kind of artist who wants to experiment, educate and change direction – but instead I love to write pop songs that people can connect with which is something that Neil Diamond has always excelled at.”
Hofmeyr says that in selecting the repertoire for this Diamond tribute show was a great deal of fun. “It’s been many years since the last album and I had a great time immersing myself in Neil Diamond’s repertoire and working out which songs we would do this time around.”
Among the Diamond songs making it are the stunning ‘Solitary Man’ as well as ‘Play Me’, ‘Don’t Turn Around’, ‘Cherry Cherry’, ‘If You Know What I Mean’ and ‘Crunchy Granola’.
