Soetes and Soup 2019

Mushroom & port, chicken curry, mexican meatball, waterblommetjie or biltong & blue cheese – these are just a few of the soups being served at this year’s Breedekloof Soetes & Soup festival, taking place on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 July.

This exciting event, hosted at the various wineries in the Rawsonville, Slanghoek, Goudini, and Breede River areas, will serve you complimentary cups of steaming homemade country soup and award winning wines. Each participating winery and venue has an impressive array of entertainment for you, including live music, family activities, various stalls, foods and more. This event caters for the whole family, offering face painting, various rides, jungle gyms, jumping castles and more for the little ones.

The participating wineries have put together a various premium wine events, giving you the opportunity of tasting special wines presented by their winemakers. Remember to book your place in advance as these are private tutored tastings and special dinners, with limited seating available.

Capitalising on Stellenbosch’s remarkable terroir which shapes its globally awarded wines, only wines made from grapes grown in the Stellenbosch region, and therefore certified as Wine of Origin (W/O) Stellenbosch, will be presented by the winemakers on the day. To these, Stellenbosch’s famous chefs, including Bertus Basson, George Jardine and Michael Broughton, will provide expertly paired canapés for heightened tasting experiences.

Annual Penguin Festival in Simon's Town

This annual event is a platform to highlight the plight of the iconic African penguin species and educate the public on how to play their part in supporting SANCCOB’s conservation efforts and those of all collaborators and exhibitors.

SANCCOB’s 17th Annual Penguin Festival in collaboration with the City of Cape Town, Cape Town Environmental Education Trust (CTEET) and South African National Parks (SANParks) kick-starts with a public release of rehabilitated African penguins for all to witness how they waddle back to where they belong. It’s an experience not to be missed as we count down to tip the boxes! This year Kfm’s mascot, Rocket, will also tip a box.

From 10h30 the festival will take place at Simon’s Town School in Harrington Road, within walking distance from the beach release site and parking is available at the school’s hostel.

There will be educational exhibits with an environmental spin by exhibitors, food vendors, boerewors rolls made with love by the SANParks Honourary Rangers, and a designated craft beer and wine area.

Vegan Lifestyle Festival | Spring Edition

Six months have passed and it’s time for another Vegan Lifestyle Festival!

A day filled with live music, over 100 food, drink and craft stalls, interactive educational workshops, talks and demonstrations, live art installations, movement and artistic expression spaces and classes and so much more.

25th Cape Town International Kite Festival

The 25th edition of Africa's biggest kite festival, proudly flying in support of Cape Mental Health. Join the celebrations, see some of the world's most incredible kites and enjoy fresh-air family fun at this much-loved festival.

Bring a kite, make a kite at the free workshops or just come along to see spectacular kites decorate the sky. There will also be live entertainment, children's activities, food trucks and craft market - so there will be lots to enjoy. Picnics are welcome, so invite your friends & family, pack a picnic and join the festivities.

Tickets are available at the gate, or on Quicket. All profits of this event go directly to Cape Mental Health, to help us to provide vital mental health services for children and adults.
