Open Streets City Centre
Open Streets Days are a local programme inspired by Colombia’s Ciclovía. The concept is to close down a street temporarily so that it becomes car-free. It’s a chance for people to reclaim streets as public space, for walking, cycling, skating, playing, exploring and general socialising. Open Streets suspends reality and allows us to imagine a new “normal” for our streets.
Join Cape Town residents to walk, cycle, skate, play, dance, explore and connect with neighbours, friends and family on a car-free Bree Street. Leave your car at home and join the movement to experience streets differently! #StreetsForPeople #ItsYourSpace #CarFree
This will be the fourth time Bree Street hosts Open Streets (since 2015), and the day falls in the middle of the Open Streets 2018-19 season. The series kicked off in October Transport Month in Woodstock, followed by Bellville in November, and will continue in February in Langa and March in Mitchells Plain (the last Sunday of each month).
- Cost: FREE
- When: 27 January, 9am - 2pm
- Venue: Bree Street, Cape Town

SouthYeasters Summer Fest 2019
SouthYeasters SummerFest - the true Craft Beer Experience.
SouthYeasters is the local homebrew club in Cape Town and their SummerFest is your chance to understand (and taste) true "craft beer".
All of the beer on show is crafted by homebrewers - this is what originally started the craft beer revolution. The epitome of nano-brewing, often brewing just 20 liters of beer (or even less) at a time, gives homebrewers the opportunity to experiment in a way that commercially produced beer can't.
Come see and taste what you are capable of doing at home, and if you're interested to find out how to do it and perhaps sign-up to join the club. There will be around 40-50 home brewed beers on display, taste them and then vote for your favourite so the lucky home brewer can take home the much-coveted People's Choice trophy.
The Rosmead Food Market will also be at Villagers on the day so why not make a day of it.
- Cost: R90 pp
- When: 3 March, 11am - 3pm
- Venue: Saggy Stone Villager Pub & Grill, 11 Imam Haron Rd, Claremont

Sizzled - 6 Year Birthday Anniversary
Born Sunday 7 April 2013, exactly 6 years later on Sunday 7 April 2019, Sizzled will commemorate the movement by serving you the original satisfying concept by bringing the focus back to the dance-floor, music and DJ’s unseen.
The original Sizzled experience means an intimate setting and smaller venue capacity, so unfortunately only a few tickets are being sold. To heighten nostalgia they headhunted top braai-master’s & chef's to prepare the most delicious braai for lunch. The aim is not to repeat the past, however, their objective is to bring back that feeling of getting lost in the music together as one family. So forget about big DJ names and the regular same ol', same ol'!

Global March for Elephants and Rhino (and all our wildlife)
In conjunction with events around the globe early April, this event will focus on (all) our wildlife and the trade in their body parts that’s driving them towards extinction. Trophy hunting is also under fire. As our natural and wild world is increasingly under threat from all quarters, our voices need to grow ever louder and carry our message to the ears of decision-makers and world leaders.
At the same time as the march, Voices For African Wildlife will be taking children to the Drakenstein Lion Park, to learn about our wildlife and see how they have been saved from the unscrupulous.
SPEAK OUT FOR THE VOICELESS! We call for stronger measures to protect them, and to preserve our remaining wild world and the biodiversity it depends on. They will have a hayride available for those with mobility / health difficulties. Children are welcome.
Organisers do not encourage canine companions, but if you do bring your dog(s) please ensure they are on a lead, and that you bring water and poop bags :) If the ground is too hot, they must use the hayride with their human. They walk to parliament, they will hand over a memorandum outlining our demands for protection for all our wildlife and return to 10 Darling Street.
- When: Meet at 10:30am, march starts at 11am
- Venue: 10 Darling St, Cape Town
