The Beer Run OctoBEERfest

The Beer Run isn’t about who’s the fastest or fittest, it’s quite the opposite actually! It’s all about good people, good beer, self-love, and self-expression. Founded in 2016 by ilumin8 events, since then they have served over 27 800 beers, had 100% finisher rate and had 5 awesome events.

The route consists of a 5km run, there are 5 beer/cider stops or as we like to call them “Dehydration Stations” on the route. Each beer/cider stop is stocked up with a different beer, cider or non-alcoholic beer and will provide a bush bar, music and chill area where you can relax your weary body before heading on to the next point.

Once you’ve completed the roughly 5km course, you are welcomed back into the ultimate after-party with an ice cold beer at your final beer stop and a full afternoon of festivities - music, games, giveaways, fantastic food and more beer!

2018 SPAR Womens Challenge Joburg

The SPAR Women’s Challenge offers women from all walks of life, levels of fitness, shapes and sizes the opportunity to partake in a 5km or 10km road race (walk or run).

@SPAR Women's Race Joburg‎

This challenge is the most popular and inclusive road race in South Africa, attracting the country’s top professional female athletes and a vast range of recreational runners. Proceeds from the race are donated to Reach 4 Recovery, an international breast cancer support group. It is affiliated to the International Union Against Cancer (UICC).

The first 13 000 entries to receive a My Joburg Race magazine. The first 16 000 entries to receive a one-size-fits-all t-shirt. The first 16 000 participants to cross the finish line will each receive a medal and a goodie bag.

The SPAR and Caxton Drop off a Pair and Show You Care initiative is back again this year. During the 2015 SPAR Women’s Challenge, Caxton staff noticed that many children from disadvantaged schools in Johannesburg took part in the SPAR Women’s Challenge race, barefoot.

This year, Caxton is running a special charity drive for the 2018 SPAR Women’s Challenge – to put shoes on feet – so that the shoes can be used not just to run the race but to keep cold winter chills away from feet as well.

Those participating in the Spar Women’s Challenge can drop off their old shoes when they collect their race numbers at the Marks Park Sports Club.

There is also a drop of point at Caxton House 368, Jan Smuts Avenue, Craighall or at Cornelius Street, cnr JG Strydom road, Weltevredenpark. While size and style of the shoes does not matter, it is important that the shoes are all in a good condition. Those who donate shoes stand a chance of winning a special prize! The draw and prize winners will be announced the week after the race.

Please Note: If you enter online a small admin fee is applicable.
