International Yoga Day Joburg

The International Day of Yoga (21st of June) is celebrated in over 150 countries worldwide. Multiply, Yoga Works and India in South Africa (Consulate General of India, Johannesburg) invite the entire Johannesburg yoga community to come together for a day of outdoor yoga sessions, live music, yoga products + healthy food market, kids play area and good times with friends.

This event is free and open to absolutely anyone with an interest in yoga (whether you are a regular or it's your very first time to try it out!). On the day there will be several group yoga sessions and workshops, and every activity will be accessible to all levels and ages. You can further support our charity by getting a sponsored ticket for you or someone else.

As we also celebrate Youth Day in South Africa, there will be a full kids program (including kids yoga and other activities). Between your yoga sessions visit our market with vendors offering healthy food/drink options, yoga services, and yoga clothing/props.

All proceeds of this event will be donated to our beneficiary Dlala Nje, who have been challenging perceptions and creating opportunities in some of Joburg's most misunderstood areas. They also run a community centre providing a safe learning environment, yoga and other activities to children and youth.

All summer we kept hearing winter is coming... its official, it has arrived and with it brought some of the hottest events taking over the Gauteng area.

The Linden Winter Market

When winter hits we all want to stay inside and hibernate… but luckily Jozi has the best sunny winter days to go out. Even if it’s chilly, The Linden Market Winter Edition will keep things HOT this winter, on Saturday 13 July 2019 at the Botanical Gardens, Emmarentia.

With over 160 of the most innovative and incredible stalls selling everything from wonderful warm winter foods to toasty hot chocolate and coffee, cozy jackets, beautiful boots, exquisite art and body products – there truly is something for everyone to warm up your winter.

If the shopping doesn’t turn on the heat, their music lineup sure will. are Very excited to introduce new bands to TLM Winter edition. Live violin & sax electronic duo, Luca Tim will kick of the day, followed by a marimba band, Cole Train, who will surely get you dancing  to their exotic beats and warm up your bones. To end the day off on an ever bigger high is the awesome 6-piece band, Sea of Green.

TLM is for the whole family this time round they are excited to announce the introduction of the TLM Kidpreneurs Market. Kids are so creative and at TLM we believe in encouraging them and kindling their entrepreneurial spirit from a young age. 15 Kidpreneurs will have their own stalls where they can sell their products to market goers from 11:00-13:00. To keep the kids entertained for the rest of the day, they also have some impressive stiltmen, face painting, creative arts and a jumping castle.

Discovery Jacaranda FM Spring Walk 2019

Winter is a thing of the past and around the corner there’s a great way to get off the couch, out of those winter onesies and come back to life: the Discovery Jacaranda FM Spring Walk - Gauteng’s favourite way to officially kick off spring.

This highly popular, family event draws thousands every year and will celebrate its 8th birthday at the iconic Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Saturday the 14 September 2019.

It promises to be a day of being active, having fun in the sun and spending time with loved ones. All the routes explore the lush Jacaranda City and provide for all fitness levels including those who want to walk or run 5km, 10km and 15 km.

Apart from the running experience, Discovery and Jacaranda FM will, as always, make this year’s experience even better than in the past, with entertainment from four of SA’s top stage acts – singers Bok van Blerk and Roan Ash, multi-instrumentalist, Nick McCreadie and Jacaranda FM’s very own groovemaster, DJ Jazzy D. The Jacaranda FM presenters will be out in full force to entertain walkers, runners and those who just come through to enjoy the electric vibe before the prize giving. Good news for the little ones is that there will also be a kiddies’ area where tons of fun can be had. Those who attend are welcome to bring their own alcohol-free picnic baskets to enjoy after the walk, but a variety of food and drinks stalls will also be available to carb up and quench your thirst.

Discovery Vitality members will be extra-pleased to know that they can claim Vitality fitness points for participating in the Spring Walk. Entrants will earn 800 points for the 5km walk and run, 1 100 points for the 10km walk and run and 1 100 for the 15km walk.

In ensuring that all participants are well hydrated and safe, there will be water points every 3km on all routes, full medical facilities will be available throughout and the walk will be managed in accordance with ASA and AGN rules. The entry fee is R160, with under 16s and over 60s paying an entry fee of only R110. Babies and toddlers under 2 years can enter for free.
