We are proud to announce a revolutionary activity that will take the Cape by storm. Cape Town Water Bikes embarked on their maiden voyage mid December of 2018!

As we grow more conscious of our imprint, we are heading outdoors to explore and enjoy mother nature. Cape Town Water Bikes allow you to do just that on a fun and exciting new platform!

Tour the coastline to the penguins at Boulders Beach or cruise through the yachts  in Simons Town.

Travelling at your own pace allows you to take in the sights of the local penguin colonies who call Simon's Town their home. Because the bikes are not motorised they do not scare off local marine and bird life, allowing you to feel at one with nature.

The False Bay area is known for its abundance in marine wildlife, throughout the year you can enjoy the penguins at boulders,  Cape Fur seals playing in the bays with the variety of indigenous sea birds.

This activity is suitable for all skill levels, the water bikes are easy to manoeuvre and propel.

Riders are kitted with life vests and safety briefing before heading out onto the water as well as an accompaniment of a safety boat. Each Water Bike is equipped with bottled water, Safety radio and buoyancy aids.

Cycling on the ocean might sound daunting but this activity is suitable for all skill levels. Cape Town Water Bikes have taken the strictest precautions to ensure everyone is safe on the water.

The premium water bikes are silent, do not emit any omissions, do not require fuel and they will allow you to safely explore without an environmental footprint. Due to the elevated position one sits on the water bike, it gives you a different perspective of your surroundings. These easy, no hassle water bikes are very stable and easy to steer.

Come Prepared

As the Cape Town weather can be quite unpredictable, we advise taking a warm windbreaker, you do not get wet on the water bikes.

Always wear a hat while in the sun in Cape Town, even during overcast weather the UV rays can be very harmful to your skin. Water Bikes offer safe and secure lockers, to lock up your belongings before heading out. They have thought of everything.

There is a height restriction to partake in this activity, a minimum of 5ft is required to comfortably reach the seat and peddles.

They offer both: a 2 hour guided tour - where you will get to explore the bay and coastline with a knowledgable expert and visit the local penguin colony, or walk-in rentals of 30 - 60 minute time slots, however, prior booking is essential!

Vibescout Experience

This passed weekend Cape Town Water Bikes were kind enough to have a few of the Vibescout team members over, and what an experience. Since having visited we have internally been planning our next trip out there.

We arrived early on a crisp morning, thinking this might not be the greatest idea as the cooler winter winds have already hit the Cape. A combination of nerves, excitement and the unknown took over and by the time we started putting on our safety kit, our blood was pumping and we were ready and eager to go.

The safety briefing put our minds at ease, as one us cannot swim (which was not a factor for this experience as the Water Bikes are un-sinkable). Ross, from Cape Town Water Bikes, was so kind and helpful she even allowed one of us to ride along on the safety boat and capture some amazing scenic shots on the water.

We embarked on our journey through the Simon's Town harbour, from our vantage point, we were surrounded by breathtaking views of the open ocean with mountain backdrops in almost every image captured. An ideal Instagram worthy moment.

The route along the coastline is well protected against the elements and tides, this makes for some smooth sailing even in colder, windier weather. The activity itself is low impact and does not require any specific fitness level - just some sore bums from cycling, but totally worth it! All in all we would do it again and again and have so far recommended this incredibly enjoyable activity to almost everyone we know.

Cape Town Water Bikes have blown us out of the water with this one, which we know will be fully booked for months to come!
