This is probably the best way to start off your Mother’s Day, 13th May 2017. Come in early for a scamper on the best mountain in the country and win that special mother a really cool prize (there's plenty of them)! Race Entries: https://vws.org.za/trailchallenge2018

The 13th edition of the VWS Trail Challenge is open to test the grit of avid trail runners (and walkers alike). Experience beautiful Deer Park, the slopes of Devils Peak and Table Mountain, overlooking the majesty of early morning Cape Town with the exciting routes first used last year including the Table Mountain contour path, and for the long course runners a testing climb over the Devil’s Peak Saddle.

The challenge offers runners a chance to do two routes: 20km or 10km. And this year the race will take you through some of the areas that have once again seen the destruction of wildfires that we helped combat and show why it is so important for us to help protect our Natural Heritage. You will also run through areas recovering from fires with an array of new growth and life.

Run and organised entirely by our wildland firefighters, all proceeds go towards the VWS, an entirely volunteer-run, non-profit organisation dedicated to the protection of biodiversity, and preservation of our natural heritage and water catchment area. All funds raised are used for operational expenses to fight wildfires - and via donations or events like this. Any donations are welcome and would be greatly appreciated - they all help us battle too frequent wildfires and protect the wildland urban interface. The race Start and Finish is located in Deer Park, Vredehoek, Cape Town.
